The SpeedTree SDK request form has some fine print, but I have
not read it. The form is available at speedtree.com.

One clearly cannot publish anything from the SDK, but what about
your own source code to which you have written the SpeedTree API
calls? It would reveal what are the calls and what must be done
in order to have something rendered. Doing the same by reverse
engineering could be okay, but not if you have signed NDA.

The end-user version I requested (but they won't do it)
would be much cheaper as it would be binary-only, no SpeedTreeCAD,
no redistribution rights. SpeedTree product is now purchased by
the game developers, the end-user version would be purchased by
the players (if they wish to see the trees).

Ogre3D community has done some work with rendering large amount
of distant trees, forests. Search their forum if interested.
