Hi,

While going through the CrystalSpace code base recently, I got the
feeling that while there is a lot in there in terms of plugins etc
there, it seems that the different parts seem to be in pretty different
states maintenance-wise. Now I am not a CS developer, and certainly not
very knowledgeable regarding the CS code, but the logs show that some
components get very frequently updated, while others see very little
acitivity.

Now what I thought about was: given that the release of 2.0 is not that
far away, wouldn't it be a nice idea to

* Inspect what is all in the repository, which parts have someone
maintaining and working on them, which are of sufficient quality to ship
and maintain, etc.

* Drop everything that doesn't meet these criteria

* Use the newly gained development time to polish what is left to the
extreme

Such a "concentrate-on-the-core" move might help to invest development
efforts on what is really important and, in the end, deliver a
through-and-through high quality product with CS 2.0.

What do you think?

Regards,
Denis Washington
