Why not just bypass the server registering for matchmaking if a password is 
set? I'd rather see servers requiring a map change to remove password 
protection than what is currently in place.

Or just invest the time and technical debt to fix it *right* with the prior 
being an interim solution.

Valve, I can be persuaded to leave my current employer. Fluent in C# but can 
learn *anything* (ask my employer). Will code for money! :)

Propably because creating a way (similiar to old way) is too much hassle to 
make it work. Passwords never worked with L4D2 servers (due to matchmaking) and 
CSGO is based on that system.
