I don't think .res files work on CS:GO. Yeah, I've seen the posts from
ppl claiming it fixed the client map download probs for de_nuke_ve too,
but I tried creating one (and sticking a copy in the fast redirect tree
too) and it made the prob worse for our (LINUX) gameserver as far as what
the client saw trying to download the map.

Before anybody accuses me of just not knowing how to create a proper res
file... I've been doing .res files for fast download redirects since CS:S
was a new game and don't need anybody telling me how to make one. I've
also seen example .res files posted from CS:GO ppl that claim creating
that file in the maps/ dir fixed the prob for them but it didn't on our
servers (and the format wasn't appreciably different from what I already
know how to do anyway).

There is a sourcemod plugin you can get with a name something like maps
radar overview and loading screen downloader. I would tell you the exact
filename except I have shut our CS:GO servers down. (notice I am avoiding
a great big rant I'd love to insert here about WHY)

but if you go to http://sourcemod.net/plugins.php and put "downloader" in
the name field to search for, you'll find it.

Just realize that installing sourcemod on your gameserver will most likely
get you labeled as a fruitcake in some venues. Maybe even here.

Maybe they work for windows servers. I dunno.
