I’m running my own dedicated server in a domestic IDC.

I’ve read in the Steam CS:GO forum that there are hackers DDoS attacking MM
players to gain advantage. If their DDoS attacks crash the server, they won’t
get any beneft. That’s why I thought they might be different with traditional
DDoS attacks.

When it happens, at least one of the 2 teams in the match server is a foregin
team. All of a sudden all 5 foreign players are disconnected. But the other
(domestic) team aren’t affected in any ways. The are still in the server.

I have to further investigate this issue, because I haven’t get any reports
from players in my DM server. If anyone in the mailing list is from SEA or EA
and would like to offer help, please kindly get in touch with me.

Try pinging the server that the game service is located at, when your players
are disconnected. Are you able to get a response? If you are, then it is most
likely not a DDoS attack, as this will (in most cases) wipe the entire server
offline.

Are you hosting your own server or are you using a GSP?

Emne: [Csgo_servers] What does a DDoS attack look like?

I have several match servers which are used for tournaments. From time to time,
I get reports from players that all of the players (usually a whole team) in
the server who are from the same (foreign) countries/regions are disconnected
in a sudden. And they are not able to reconnect until 5 minutes later. But all
players from the country where the server resides rarely get this kind of
problems.

Does that resemble a CS:GO DDoS attack in any ways?

The DDoS attacks I have encountered with my server before are all the
traditional ones, which eat up the bandwidth of my server.
