A friend of mine had the same problem last week. The exact message was the following: "An issue with your computer is blocking the VAC system. You cannot play on secure servers." The culprit was some dodgy antivirus or anti-spyware software he had installed on his computer.I told him to clean up the software and the problem disappeared. In other cases DEP can also be the problem.More information can be found here: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2117-ILZV-2837 Being disconnected for having a problem with "VAC authentication" is not a VAC ban.If you get disconnected from a match (multiple times) because of this, you might receive a competitive cooldown,however, this cooldown is not VAC related. It took me days to figure out what was wrong, which was, of course, DEP was not turned on. Do a quick Google to find out why its not letting you turn it on. Reading a bit more into the case, I saw that Valve recently published an update that needed DEP to be turned on, without really stating it anywhere. Have any of you guys ben affected by this? I saw some guys on Reddit saying that they didn't get a permanent ban, but he wasn't told whether or not the ban was permanent.
