The text-links for 'site map,' and 'skip nav' only appear at extreme 
font re-sizing; and, since they are white on white, the are only 
readable when they break over the blue.
There is one minor markup error to correct on the one page I checked.

I did not have to wait for them to load, so no idea of the outcome...

Some subjective thoughts:
body {

nothing '1850 antique' about that blue sidebar; or, blue content-text, 
with red accents on white.

and reset the nav to 0.95 or 0.9em
A measure for the content text of nearly 1000px at 1280 is very tough to 
read at 15% smaller than default.
