I'm not exactly a design or typography purist, so bear that in mind. I like your work-in-progress; although I feel the p font size is a bit small, especially compared with the headers or subheaders in the copy. Perhaps you are following a specific typographic standard here... or perhaps its Cabili font. Out of curiosity, what is the purpose of basing your entire layout on ems? It seems like an extra step of complexity to have to divide out and specify things like
> for any block on the page you change the font size, then you need to > calculate its dimensions using new grid unit. > 1 / 1.2 * 30em = 25em Given the fact that great care has been put into designing on-screen fonts at specific pixel/point sizes (eg 10, 11, 12, 14, 18, 24, etc.) and that presumably your web designs are meant primarily for screens, it seems to be a bit of a waste of time to me, but what do I know. One nice aspect obviously is that changing base font size (grid) in one place or just a few places ought to elegantly re-flow through your entire design, but the same effect can be achieved with %-based rules too, or simply a different stylesheet. If I recall some tests I did a while back, I'm not certain all browsers respect hundredth or thousandth place em units; that is, 1.275em renders identically to 1.3em in at least certain cases.
