Dear System member libraries: We greatly appreciate you taking the time to fill out this survey. Your participation is important, as this survey will help us determine how well we use our federal funds, and help us plan for the future. If you have not yet responded please do so as soon as possible. We would like to hear from all member libraries.
Several people have had questions about how to answer questions 13 and 14. We realize these questions may be difficult for some, but we decided to include them to get an overall sense (estimate) of population served and satisfaction with specific services. Here is some guidance: Q.13: We want to get a sense of how many people have been served. Estimates are fine. In estimating the number of people served, we refer to actual (not potential) people served. Counts can be duplicative, that is, if you served someone who is older, has a disability, and lives in a rural area, count that person once in each of these categories. Also, if this person received the same services each year, count this person separately for each year (that is, over 4 years, that person will be counted 4 times in each of the categories). If the services the library provided were services such as purchasing large type books and the library can not estimate how many people used these books, please indicate so on the questionnaire. Q.14: Satisfaction with services This information should be provided on the services for which library directors and systems coordinators have an idea of overall satisfaction. Again, we are looking for a sense of overall satisfaction with a service. If there are services for which the respondent does not have any idea of how satisfied patrons were, it should be indicated so on the questionnaire. Thank you again for your participation.
