The City of Austin will participate in Korean-American Friendship Day this Sunday, February 17 from 2-5 p.m. at the Asian American Cultural Center, 11713 Jollyville Road, Austin as part of the Sister City project. The immediate purpose is to celebrate the 21 Korean teachers who have been visiting Central Texas as part of a 7-week training program. Austin Public Library Youth Services (ACYS) will host a puppet show, "Why Cowboys Sing in Texas," presented by Hand to Mouth Puppet Theatre. The Korean teachers will read stories in Korean and there will be music and proclamations. The puppet show is at 2:00 p.m. with proclamations and an exchange of books at 3:00 p.m. (ACYS donated 20 US books for the teachers to take back to Korea.) At 4:00 p.m. there will be a Korean fashion parade.
