In 1904 when our library was established, overdue fees were 25 cents a week. It's been almost 100 years since we opened and we now charge 50 cents a week. That's inflation for you! In the 10 years I've been with the library, the fee for copies is still 15 cents a copy and 20 cents for legal.

Our staff is currently reviewing our fee schedules to determine what, if
any, changes need to be made. In particular, we are still charging on 10
cents per day for overdue materials, yet the costs associated with sending
overdue notices have risen dramatically over the years. As far as I can
determine, Killeen has not updated the overdue fee in 15 years.
We also charge 15 cents per page to make copies, which we think is too much.
I unsuccessfully tried to have this lowered to 10 cents a few years ago, and
I'm ready to try again since we have several new members on the City
Council.
I would appreciate hearing from the CTLS members what your overdue and copy
charges are.
Thank you in advance,
Deanna
