At the risk of taking an unpopular stance, Is this really a problem -- in other words, does it seriously impact our ability to provide quality library service to others?  On college campuses, people sleep all over the place-- sometimes because they partied too much the day before but sometimes just because they have a really brutal schedule and they are exhausted.  Of course, libraries vary tremendously in space available--- maybe lots of lively programs with sing-alongs near the comfortable chairs would do the trick.  Am I missing something here?
I remember being a young mother --okay, okay, I KNOW that was a long time ago -- and looking for a place to nurse when the sleeping baby decided to wake up off schedule and the only spot in the library out of public view was the restroom floor.  (No chairs in there.)

Our library does not have a policy against sleeping in the library.  However, I have a very large discarded book that I accidently drop by the sleeper sometime several times an hour.  They seem to leave.  I wonder why?
