Space or lack their of is our problem and the problem of so many of the
rest of this group, if you let one or two people sleep their would be no
place for anyone to do research. We havven't even got room for an
armchair and have only one table in adult room. Wish I had space for an
armchair, I'd put a parking meter on it and charge them .25 an hour for
its use. Judy

At the risk of taking an unpopular stance, Is this really a problem --
in other words, does it seriously impact our ability to provide quality
library service to others? On college campuses, people sleep all over
the place-- sometimes because they partied too much the day before but
sometimes just because they have a really brutal schedule and they are
exhausted. Of course, libraries vary tremendously in space available---
maybe lots of lively programs with sing-alongs near the comfortable
chairs would do the trick. Am I missing something here?
I remember being a young mother --okay, okay, I KNOW that was a long
time ago -- and looking for a place to nurse when the sleeping baby
decided to wake up off schedule and the only spot in the library out of
public view was the restroom floor. (No chairs in there.)

Our library does not have a policy against sleeping in the library.
However, I have a very large discarded book that I accidently drop by
the sleeper sometime several times an hour. They seem to leave. I
wonder why?
