Wimberley Village Library hesitated for seven years to offer entertainment videos until we asked ourselves in a brainstorming session, what are the reasons someone might check out a new entertainment video, after a waiting list, rather than rent it? When one of our answers was "because I might not be able to easily afford to rent it" , I changed my mind- I buy small in quantity, I buy after the curve and even shop Walmart very selectively, I try to buy quality in the same way we buy fiction, we chop up the boxes ruthlessly and repackage them in clear double sleeve videocases from Library Store for .85 each in such a way that the cases can be reused should the videotape need to be withdrawn. This is a pain and takes us about 10 - 20 minutes each. If the video store in your community also buys small and after the curve, then the perhaps the library should refrain from offering the same titles. But then, why not compete-- in a friendly sort of way? Doesn't that just make us all better? By the way, do you offer ----- Original Message ----- From: "Deanna Frazee" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Thursday, August 15, 2002 5:04 PM Subject: RE: Video storage > This is a message from CTLS-L. > Selecting "Reply" will send a message to the entire list. > --------------------------------------------------------- > > Clara, you are absolutely right.
