Godfrey Award
Applications due September 1, 2003

Announcing the Third Annual Godfrey Award for Excellence in Public Library
Services for Families and Children

The Godfrey Award jury seeks nominations for Public Library programs whose
programming for young children, their families, and their caregivers is
exemplary.

The award is funded by PROVIDENCE Associates Inc., Library Planners &
Consultants, Marjorie and Dick Waters, principals, and is administered by
The University of Arizona library school. Godfrey is the Waters' 20 lb.,
13-year-old tabby cat.

The award recipient will receive a $2,500 cash award and a sculpture
appropriate for public display.

Libraries may be nominated or apply directly. Nominations should not exceed
2500 words and should clearly articulate the goals of the program, describe
in detail the operation of the program, and provide an assessment of the
success of the program. The award winner must be willing to share their
successful program with other libraries. Nominations or applications should
include eight copies, and print or multimedia materials concerning the
nominated program.
