CTLS members will be meeting on January 14, 15, and 16 to discuss System plans for the 2006 - 2007 biennium (which begins on September 1, 2005). There was considerable interest and discussion at the regional meetings last week about recommendations in the Public Library Development Study on high indirect costs (CTLS was used as an example) and converting systems to nonprofit organizations or moving them to mid-size libraries which might offer lower costs. For details on indirect costs at the 10 systems and system governance options, go to: http://www.ctls.net/UpdateCTLSandPLDS.html For more background on the Public Library Development Study: http://www.ctls.net/LDstudynews.htm Each member library and lay rep was sent briefing packets (call CTLS if you haven't gotten yours). Much of the material in the briefing packet is also available on the CTLS web site, with links to related documents and web sites: http://www.ctls.net/BBproposal06-07.htm There are also several columns in the January CTLS newsletter with information for the meetings.
