FREE Workshop via satellite teleconference on Friday, November 19th -- The
Role of Teaching in Modern Libraries 

As part of the 2004-05 season of the College of DuPage "Soaring to
Excellence" teleconference series, the Texas State Library reminds Texas
library staff of the opportunity to participate in "The Role of Teaching in
Modern Libraries". This program will be broadcast from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00
p.m. Central time on Friday, November 19th, 2004. 
ALL Texas library staff are invited to view this program free of charge at
participating host sites in Texas.
Please note that there are no pre-requisites of any kind for these workshops
-- no special technical skills are needed.

College of DuPage "Soaring to Excellence" Teleconference 
November 19th, 2004, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Central Time

OVERVIEW:
Library staff are increasingly called upon not just to find information for
their patrons, but to also teach their patrons skills related to finding,
evaluating, and using information. This teleconference explores the expanded
roles of librarians in today's modern libraries.

SPEAKERS: 
Steven Bell, Director of the Paul J. Gutman Library at Philadelphia
University 
John Shank, Instructional Design Librarian and newly appointed director of
the Center for Learning Technologies for Pennsylvania State University's,
Berks-Lehigh Valley College 
David Reifsynder, New Media and Theatre professor at Wheaton College 
Anne Kozak, Director of the Thomas Ford Memorial Library (Western Springs) 
Linda Slusar, cofounder of the Soaring to Excellence Teleconference Series,
College of DuPage 

TO ATTEND THE TELECONFERENCE: 
If you would like to attend this teleconference, please visit the TSLAC
Webpage for this teleconference (the URL is listed in the next paragraph),
view the list of participating host sites, decide which host site is nearest
you, notify the site coordinator at that host site of your plans to attend
NO LATER than 24 hours prior to the event and then sign-in at the host site
on the day of the event.
