Just set up an account with the comptroller if you do not already have one--I was told this could be done on-line now. Set your library up as an annual pay--you'll have to submit in January for the previous calendar year. Keep track of sales monthly or quarterly and at the end of the year you can send a check or have a bank transfer done.
We are now doing two garage sales couple with a book sale each time. We do keep that money accounted for seperately. Seems a pity to pass up on $50-100 or more each month to save yourself $4-8. We have also sold on ebay and just collect if they are in TX.
Not hard and truthfully, being supported by sales taxes, it is a shame that everyone is trying to avoid collecting them and paying them. The 6.25% the state gets comes back to the libraries through what they give the State Library.

We have not done an ongoing sale for just that reason. If someone knows a way around it I'd like to hear it.

The Friends of the Library would like to have an on-going book sale at the library.  I would like to find out how other libraries do this without paying the sales tax.  I understand that State Law stipulates that non-profit organization can do two 24-hour fundraisers without paying tax.  One suggestion I heard is to ask for donation of the price of the book instead of collecting the the sale price.  Do you have any suggestions

Thank you very much for your help!
