---------------------------------------------------------

I am sending this email out to both the CTLS area libraries and to APL
public service staff.

The renewal system in ILLiad is working. I made some changes in our
customization manager which now allows for renewals from 14 days prior to
the due date up to the due date. The due date that ILLiad uses is listed in
the ILLiad account. You can view accounts by going directly to the ILLiad
logon page located on the ILL home page. The ILL home page is located at
http://www.ci.austin.tx.us/library/lbill.htm
<http://www.ci.austin.tx.us/library/lbill.htm> . Click on connect to ILLiad.

For area libraries it is more convenient to go straight to the ILLiad logon
screen at http://illiadtsl.tsl.state.tx.us/TXG/
<http://illiadtsl.tsl.state.tx.us/TXG/> .

Points to keep in mind regarding renewals:

1. For area libraries, if your item goes overdue, you must contact the
lending library for a renewal.
2. You must use the due date listed in 'View/renew checked out items'.
3. You can only renew an item one time. After you renew an item, ILLiad
immediately moves the item back to 'View/modify outstanding
requests'
4. Some items are not renewable. To determine if you can renew an item,
click on the item listed in 'View/renew checked out items'. There is a
complete detail of all activity for this item including the due date along
with permission to renew.

For Austin Public Library only: ILL staff are now current within one week of
the customer request date in sending material out to the branches. Customers
may renew an item up to the due date that is stamped on their ILL wrapper.
If the status has gone overdue, but the book is not overdue by the wrapper
due date they can still renew it. They must call us in ILL and ask us to
clear the overdue status. WE can change the status back to 'checked out to
customer'. Once we change the status back, they can renew their ILL item.
Please encourage customers to take care of their own account in respect to
renewals.

Questions regarding received/returned items: Area libraries we are working
hard to keep the ILLiad queues current with receiving. As we update your
requests to 'received', items will move from outstanding to checked out.
Pay close attention to your ILLiad accounts as we update your accounts.

For APL customers concerned about returns, if there are questions from
customers regarding the status of items returned at the circ desk, please
show/tell them how to check their accounts. We check in all books they day
we receive them in ILL. The status changes from 'checked out to customer' to
'Awaiting return label printing' . This is their notification that we
received it in ILL.

As always call or email if you have any questions.
