Reminder on renewals. There were some renewals ready to process this morning. Great! As a reminder, not all items are renewable. You can determine this by checking the ILLiad account. Select the item title and click on the item transaction number on the far left. When you click on the transaction number, you pull up a detailed record of the items activity including information regarding whether renewals are allowed. This is how it reads in ILLiad: Renewals Allowed?: No All renewals go through the ILL unit before going out to the lending library. I will not override renew requests if the item says no. The lending library can still say no on renewal requests. At that point the library may recall the item. All area libraries and customers must return an item that is on recall status. I allowed the renew requests this morning but will not allow renewals in the future. For frontline staff at APL, please help customers understand how to use their ILLiad accounts. To help you help customers there are instructions on the ILL web page. I will add additional information, such as status term explanations and explanation of recall/renewal/return policies, to help support you in this effort. Please use my e-mails for information that is not on the ILL web page until the web page is updated. At this time, the only planned updates are to add an audio-visual page in ILLiad. With the new version of ILLiad, we can now have a separate page for our a-v requests to go. Currently, an a-v request shows as a book instead of a-v. For area libraries, please read the articles sent out quarterly in the CTLS Newsletter. Watch for updates in the Bulletin as well. As always I am available over the phone and via e-mail if you have questions or problems. For area libraries, if your item goes overdue, you must contact the lending library for a renewal. 2. You must use the due date listed in 'View/renew checked out items'. 3. You can only renew an item one time. After you renew an item, ILLiad immediately moves the item back to 'View/modify outstanding requests' 4. Some items are not renewable. To determine if you can renew an item, click on the item listed in 'View/renew checked out items'. There is a complete detail of all activity for this item including the due date along with permission to renew.
