we have  checked them out to the patrons using the information desk. those 
without cards leave a driver's license. we initially just supplied them and 
people destroyed them by rolling over them with chairs, letting their kids pull 
them apart. Not so now.

rash of theft of headphones at the public computers.  We would like to know if 
you check them out (from where? Circulation or reference desk); do you tell 
patrons to furnish their own set of headphones.  Either way—we would give lots 
of advance notice about which way we were going.  It’s so easy to plug in a 
headphone now so that shouldn’t pose a problem.
