We limit people to 4 items (no Videos/DVDs) when their cards are new (for the
first week). Once they've brought those back they become regular patrons.
Regular patrons can check out up to 50 items. However, we do have limitations
within categories: Non-Fiction--6 per subject area; Test Books--3; CD-ROMs--5;
Videos/DVDs--6; Music CD's--10; Books on CD--10; Fiction--6 per author; Books
on Cassette--10.

Of course if I happen to help check out I never remember all those categories,
so people probably get away with murder...

Subject: [ctls-l] Limiting the number of items patrons can check out

Do you limit the number of items your patrons can check out? To what number?

Many libraries limit the number of items patrons can check out the first time a
new card is used. If your library does that, how many items do you allow on a
first-time card?

Please respond to the list ("reply all").

Thanks!
Laurie
