We have low limits on certain items (DVDs and audio books, for example) so that
one patron doesn't deplete our collection. We have an overall limit of 35
items, but there are times when we override that if we know the patrons and
they are getting books for home-school use, etc. Otherwise, we tell the patrons
their limit is whatever they want to be responsible for, and we stress the
responsible.
Unfortunately, we do have a few folks who have vacated without returning
materials, but our court system and police department will help us find them.

Subject: [ctls-l] Limiting the number of items patrons can check out

Do you limit the number of items your patrons can check out? To what number?

Many libraries limit the number of items patrons can check out the first time a
new card is used. If your library does that, how many items do you allow on a
first-time card?

Please respond to the list (“reply all”).

Thanks!
Laurie
