Actually, the Windsors and the Wittelsbachs of Bavaria get along
splendidly. The late Duke Albrecht, to whom the Stuart claim passed
through his grandmother, Maria Theresa of Modena, and Queen Elizabeth
were good friends, and the Windsors were frequent guests at the
Wittelsbach's home, Schloss Nymphenburg. There apparently wasn't any
awkwardness or embarrassment about the Stuart claim as the
Wittelsbachs never really pressed it.
The current Stuart claimant is Duke Franz, son of Duke Albrecht, and
when he dies it will pass to his niece, Sophie, wife of Prince Alois
of Liechtenstein.

As to whether or not the Windsors are quaking in their boots with
regards to "Prince" Michael, it could only be from fits of laughter.
Michael's claim is based on a very shoddily forged genealogy. Michael
is purportedly descended from Prince Charles Edward Stuart (Bonnie
Prince Charlie) and his second wife Marguerite, nee de Lussan de
Massillan. The only problem is that the Prince never had a second
wife. He was married once, to Louise of Stolberg, to whom he was
still married when he died. They had no children, and the claim
passed on Charles' death to his brother Henry, Cardinal York, and then
to the Ducal House of Modena and finally to the Wittelsbachs. The
"Vatican" divorce decree of Charles and Louise, and the marriage
record of Charles and Marguerite by which Michael substantiates his
claims are presumed to have been written (recently) by the same
person, whose poor command of Latin grammar and syntax is evident from
the blaring and frequent mistakes common to both documents. Also
suspicious is the fact that these documents are not actually held by
the Vatican. Michael's genealogy also ties in a "grandson" of Charles
X of France who never existed, as well as a completely fabricated line
of the House of La Tour d'Auvergne descending from Prince Charles
Edward and his mistress.

All of this has been dealt with in the British media, and "Prince"
Michael has, at best, been accorded the status of a benign crank by
those he seeks to rule. The Windsors may sleep soundly knowing that
their crown is secure.
