I don't know if it's proper to discuss this subject here, and I'm sure the
listowner will let us know if we should not carry on this discussion. Should that
happen, I will abide by those rules should they be layed down.  But in the
meantime, I wish to register my views about what you said, Sir. In those days,
Southrons always viewed their "nation" their "country" as the State in which they
lived. They did not view a collective society of States as their "nation/country."
When the War for Southron Independence came, General Lee among other honorable
Southron leaders from the various States, said they could not bring their sword,
bear arms against their country, against their nation. They were speaking of the
State in which they lived. They believed had they brought arms against their
"country" that indeed would have been treasonous and why they fought for their
State against the Lincoln usurpers who invaded them.
