Dear Rumor Mill Readers, I have enclosed a letter from Eric Lipton from the Chicago Tribune. I will not interpret his words, I will let him speak for himself. He sounds sincere, which is why I am forwarding his letter to you. It appears the Chicago Tribune is getting ready to do an article on Conspiracy Theories. He wants to know how I got involved in researching conspiracies, and he wants to know why YOU read conspiracies. His email is [EMAIL PROTECTED] If you feel compelled to share your story with Eric, go ahead and write to him. It will be interesting to see what kind of article he publishes. I am sure he will send me a copy of it, and I will forward it to you. You might want to pick your favortie "Conspiracy Article" and pass it on to him. Thank you, Ru Mills Following: Two letters from Eric, Two responses from RMNews ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Rumor Mill News Date: 1/21/1999 9:10:23 AM Pacific Standard Time From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Ru Mills, How are you? My name is Eric Lipton and I'm an online reporter for the Chicago Tribune. I'm working on an article about the various theories that can be found online regarding "why" the Impeachment proceedings are happening. I've found some of your writings on the Conspiracy Nation website, and would like to include them as examples in my piece. Have you any more to add? (The most recent I've found was the "Final Act in the Bill Clinton Tragedy" story). Also, if you've time to reply, either by phone or online, I'd be curious to learn more about your investigation, why you publish online, and if you've found it an effective means to publish. I'll of course respect your privacy, and your nom de plume. Thanks for your time, Eric Lipton Internet Producer Tribune Interactive Re: Rumor Mill News Date: 1/21/1999 4:30:36 PM Pacific Standard Time From:Ru Mills To:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Eric, What kind of questions do you have? Are you planning to make all conspiracy researchers out as nut cases? Where is it going to be published? Yes, I have found the internet to be an extremely good way of getting information out to the maximum number of people. People who are online and subscribe to my reports genuinely want to know what is going on. I have received no new information since I put out an article shortly before the trial began. Yes, I have a lot of theories as to what is happening. But I also see the two sides at work... behind the scenes... and until the last act of the play, there is still a chance the President will be able to slip through... no matter what kind of games go on behind the scenes. I have been around long enough to understand the games that are played in DC. the Clinton imperial presidency is merely a continuation of the Bush agenda... and if George Jr., elected we will have even more of a One World Government agenda. We are very close to losing our Constitution right now through the illegal treaties that Clinton has signed with the United Nations. If you really want to learn what conspiracy researchers know I can give you the web sites to the ones that I feel are the best. I have had too many hit pieces done about me and my ex husband by the Chicago Tribune... so, needless to say, I am reluctant to waste my time with you if you do have an agenda. If you are seriously wanting to understand why so many people are giving up newspapers in favor of online information, I will work with you. The ball is in your court. Ru Mills Re[2]: Rumor Mill News Date: 1/22/1999 6:48:16 AM Pacific Standard Time From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Those are very valid questions. I'll be perfectly honest, and understand certainly if you choose not to respond further. My piece, which may or may not run (as the trial may be over very soon) is going to be a relatively "light" feature. As an Internet Journalist, responsible for all the political "chats" for the Tribune TV and newspaper websites, I've heard a lot of theories. I like that Americans are trying to look beyond the mainstream news -- I think that's a good thing -- as long as its responsible. However, my article isn't an investigation into the theories, instead an overview of some alternative views of impeachment. Will it be humorous? Depends, I am at the mercy of my editors, who do want something more interesting to liven up the rather boring coverage. And frankly, some of the theories I've found _are_ nutty -- (just as others are offensive, poorly thought out, barely researched and sometimes racist). However, I've seen some that are interesting, compelling and will probably give people cause, even momentarily, to think from a different angle about a story they've grown very comfortable with. And again, my assignment with this is to give a brief, interesting, overview of as many as I can. The mainstream press has not got the monopoly on news, nor do "official sources" and academia have the monopoly on analysis. I've been a newsgroup reader for years, and may take issue with, but never disrespect well researched essays -- or well-thought out opinion. So, that said, I'd be interested to hear more about your audience... including any feedback or numbers of those who read yours or Conspiracy Nation's website or net postings. Additionally, I'm curious about how you got involved in conspiracy researching -- and why you and others have chosen to devote your time to it. Eric Lipton Subj: Rumor Mill News Date: 1/22/1999 8:40:50 AM Pacific Standard Time From:Ru Mills To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Eric, Thank you for this very long, and sincere response. I really appreciate it. I understand editors. No matter what a reporter feels, they are at the mercy of the editor, who is at the mercy of the owner, who is at the mercy of whoever controls his pocketbook. At that in a nutshell is why I am an internet writer... for as long as we have the freedom to be such. I am going to put the letter you wrote originally, plus the letter I wrote, plus your response in an email and send it out to all of my readers. I will ask them to respond. You will get enough for many articles. Because of personal experience with world leaders who have taken the time to take me aside and explain the world to me, I may have a slightly different view of how the world works than do most people. My basic understanding comes from knowing the origin of the Federal Reserve Banking System. Anyone who wants to understand how the world works, first of all has to understand where the money comes from. Understanding the FED is the best place to start. There is a short article by Gunther Russbacher which was written while he was in prison. It awakened many people both on the left and right, that there is more going on that meets the eye. If I can find it, I will attach it here, he not, I will send it later. In the mean time, I will put together some of my articles that I feel capture what I think is going on and I will forward them to you. By the way... Mike Tacket is the one who did the hit piece on us... I hope he is not the editor that you will have to submit this to? I truly wonder who he really works for... or maybe his editor did the same to our piece that your editor may do to your piece about all of us "conspiracy nuts". You do realize, that most of us now wear the label as a badge of honor. Ru P.S. I can't find the article about the Federal Reserve. If you want it, I will look harder for it, But in the meantime I will find something for you to read right now... and then send the rest later I have attached the article about the four different men who have admitted that Clinton has mental problems. (At Least) I think that is what I attached. I have so many article on this subject, that I am hoping I attached the complete file. I may have just attached the short article about tom Campbell. If so, I will send the full article later.
