-Caveat Lector- Dear Mr. Moxley-- In the past month, the state legislature of NY State awarded themselves raises in the $20-40k range. The governor, George Pataki, gave his aides $50k raises. Meanwhile one in four children in NY State live in poverty. People and families cut from the welfare rolls, cannot find jobs or cannot find jobs that pay a living wage. When that changes, and all children born are well-cared for--or at least given a reasonable chance at health, personal safety, and education--then I might consider changing my pro-choice stand. When you argue anti-abortion, you are arguing for exponentially increasing the number of children who will be malnourished, poorly cared for by parents struggling to merely survive, and who, in many cases, will swell the ranks of the prison population. (And yes, Pataki wants to use the budget "surplus" to build new prisons, not to rebuild NY City's Dickensian schools). So, in essence, you are arguing for prisons....and the new slave class. I consider myself a feminist. If a woman cannot support and care for a child--or another child, as the case may be--then she should have abortion as a choice open to her. No woman WANTS an abortion but sometimes abortion is the reasonable choice. You should keep in mind that at least 1/5 of the women who do have abortions are Catholic.
