I don't recall CIA connections either. He was doing some business with

My reasons for not believing the book lie in the lack of internal
consistency where Mark is concerned. He was not a hero type, and the
transition from having little or no interest in Kathy to becoming her
"rescuer" and giving up all his busness interests etc. for her and her
daughter, did not pass the "suspension of disbelief" test for me.
Kathy seemed quite sincere, and I have no trouble believing what happened
to her could and does happen. The anecdotals don't add up for me. I suspect
Mark filled in gaps in her memory with disinformation, frankly, and suspect
that was the entire goal of the "rescue." He may have (and this is only my
opinion) taken a real story and added things to it to discredit some who may
be innocent, but who may be targets of black operators.
I read a blurb on-line some time ago about her story. It seems she
claimed to have been assaulted an an LL Bean store in W. Va and there are no
LL Bean's in W. Va. according to the critique. This is one example of errors
in her story. If I find the link on my other computer, I'll post it to the
list.
