Well, there's a problem with generals. They all register as independents, but
they are almost without exception, Republicans. It probably makes it very
uncomfortable for any of them to serve a President who is a Democrat.
Remember when Carter sent a general to Teheran to report on how the Shah was
doing. The general must have played a few rounds of golf and returned home to
tell Carter that everything was just fine. It was just days before the Shah
was toppled. Presidents who are supposedly liberal should never use generals
for any thing they really care about. Prudy
