Sorry, but it will take a while before I could answer all the mail... It's funny, people here seems to be more relaxed at the moment, as they are getting used to the sound of the NATO aircrafts in the air, even bombing... It is scary to realize that you can get used to such things after a while... The usual target in my town ( Utva airplane factory plant, in the suburban part of Pancevo) was bombed with two projectiles yesterday evening... Mind you, it is the factory that was producing small planes, used in agriculture, or for the extermination of mosquito larvaes... As far as I know, they have never been producing military airplanes, but were able to fix them (or some parts, perhaps) at their plant, so maybe that was the reason why NATO has been bombing that spot so badly ?... Oh, I never was quite able to understand all those technical things... The raids are not so much of the news here... The shelters and basements are mostly full with eldery people, and children... The others prefer to stay at home, if they are not too close to the "targets", etc. People with children are really worried, because some of the children are really afraid by all the situation, and it is very hard to give them some sensible explanation about what is really going on... In fact, most of the grown-ups are confused as well.... I spoke to Vladimir Nedeljkovic, one of the guys from my "Kitchen" comics workshop, and a leader of the band called Zontag... His wife is 6 months pregnant, carrying twins...As soon as the bombing of Pancevo began, they moved to Vrsac, as it is still a much calmer place... Vladimir told me that, during one of the NATO attacks, while his father was in a basement of his house in Pancevo, the burglars came in and tryed to rob the house... Vladimir's father took a gun and shot few times in the air, and they ran away... The program on the Serbian Tv is changing past few days ( some of the Tv relays in Southern Serbia were, by the way, destroyed by bombings). I was disgusted by the propaganda and don't have the heart to watch it, but after brief inspection I noticed that now they are not playing only boring old Yugoslav war movies, but also European and American movies ( including some Disney stuff!), and very popular Mexican soap operas... One of the funniest things is that they openned International Motor Show in Belgrade, only a day or two after NATO strikes began...One of the new models introduced there was a new and improved version of the domestically produced Yugo car, called (ironicaly!) "Yugo Ciao"! Workers from the city of Kragujevac, which is supposed to be one of the main targets in the 2nd wave of NATO bombings, and where this cheap and many times ridiculed (especially in US!) type of car is prodeuced, decided to make a "living shield" - 1000's of them are gathering around the Car Factory, willing to "die with their beloved factory"... Of course, this is all too ridiculous. Serbia is the country which was already exhausted by all the turmoils which were happening past 8 years: civil war in Ex-Yugoslavia, economic sanctions, refugees...People are tired and confused by all these happenings, and now they are attacked by the mighty and strong Air Forces coming from the rich countries, so why is anybody surprised that they became irrational and bewildered....Serbia was a sad sack of the country before the bombings, and after all, NATO strikes will be used as an excuse by the Serbian regime, because they will say: Look, this was a beautiful, well-run country, and then the NATO came and destroyed everything... One of the ironic things is that the props used by the NATO forces are worth millions of dollars... Every projectile, every bomb costs 100's of thousands of dollars, and the bombs are dropped on about 40 targets in Serbia every day... Weren't they able to use even the smallest percentage of the money to find the non-violent solution of the conflict? It is something that requires nothing but a common sense, damn it, somebody could do it for free!
