**$1 Million Bail In Hate Calls To Jewish Center **
Bail has been set at $1 million for the man arreste Friday night on
charges of making threatening phone calls to the Jewish Community Center
in Palo Alto. Kevin Riley O'Keeffe, 28, remained in Santa Clara
County Jail yesterday.

**Supremacist praised as postal worker buried**
Buford O. Furrow, 37, who is jailed in connection with Tuesday's attacks
in the San Fernando Valley, was lauded in a newspaper report
Saturday by Richard Butler, the head of the Idaho-based Aryan Nations.
``He was a good soldier,'' Butler was quoted as saying in Saturday's
New York Post. ``He was very respected among us.' Meanwhile, family
members prepared to lay 39-year-old Joseph Ileto
to rest Saturday.

**Patrolman's union raises objections to KKK rally**
A police union wants a judge to side with it against the city's effort to
allow a Ku Klux Klan rally amid tight security. On Saturday, union
attorneys filed written arguments before U.S. District Judge Patricia A.
Gaughan explaining why a lawsuit filed earlier this month should not be
dismissed without a trial as the city has requested.

**American Airlines sued for racist incidents in L.A.**
Just short of turning 58, Charles L. Walker is old enough to have
painful memories of segregated bathrooms and whites-only water fountains
he encountered as a youth in his native West Virginia.
But the View Park, Calif., resident said the racism he encountered during
the past few years as a mechanic for American Airlines at Los Angeles
International Airport is "the worst thing that ever happened to me."

**Institute against hate short of cash**
A Gonzaga University think tank conceived to educate and inspire research
on hate groups is still looking for money to fulfill its vision. The
Gonzaga Institute for Action Against Hate hasn't been able to raise the

Critchlow, an associate professor at GU's law school
