I only believe what I see with my own eyes, and not all of that, not by a
long shot.
But I believe this: we have mortal enemies in common. We would be wiser to
collaborate against them than to fight each other, particularly about
stuff that (1.) we're never going to agree on and (2.) doesn't matter
anyhow because it's not germaine to the topic.
Let's not fight. Let's pool data. When people try to distract us by
pushing our buttons and starting an argument have an agenda other than our
own. So I'm willing to drop this and get back to business if y'all are.
I'm willing to work with anybody that's willing to work with me.
Christians must realize, though, why this happened and how truly
offensive some of their behavior can be. I'm not gay, but have close
personal friends who are. Insulting my personal friends in front of is not
acceptable behavior. Homophobia is not their only fault. To the rest of
us they're the are guys who who steal whole continents, enslave whole
races and burn other folks at the stake. We know they have a good side.
We see it in action sometimes. But it doesn't balance out. So they
shouldn't expect other people to trust and respect them until, at the very
least, they start showing respect for other people.
They don't have to like or trust anybody here. Just show respect.
Personally, I believe that the only thing on earth that's even dumber to
do than to believe is to trust. So don't do it. I don't. But we don't
have to trust each other to get along here on this list and make it be a
productive and informative place to hang out.
We don't even have to like each other. All we have to do is post data,
useful data and not post divisive and insulting flames disguised as data.
Stuff like that Farah thing are disruptive here. They belong on another
list.
Who benefits when instead they appear here on this list? Not us, but
somebody. A cogent and polite discussion of who that might be would
enhance this thread no end. Bickering over theology will not.
