I can't disagree with what you say, but from the gitgo, it appears that good
and honorable choices were scarce, and that continues to this day.  Choices
are made with maximum profit in mind.  If you want to study a microcosm of
all this, read Winona LaDuke's "All Our Relations: Native Struggles for Land
and Life."  The real tragedy of corporate control is that decisions are not
only profit based, but essentially stupid as well.  The "business mind" could
be forgiven its lack of honor, if it could be relied upon for intelligence.
Unfortunately that is not the case.  The corporate view of the world is both
narrow and astigmatic.  When the corporate types sits down with elected
government officials (usually former business people or attorneys), the
welfare of the world gets short shrift.  Everything becomes
expendable--people, environment, justice--when it comes up against the bottom
