I don't know about Freemasonry, but the AMA is definitely under the
control of the drug companies. I found out just how much influence the
drug companies have when I had my babies. You see, infant formula is
made by both drug companies (like American Home Products, Johnson &
Johnson, and Searle) and food companies (like Nestle). WIC, the big
food supplement program for mothers and babies, insisted on giving me
vouchers to buy formula even though it was set in granite that I would
breast-feed and I told them so. Every brochure about pregnancy and
childbirth that I received had ads for formula. I was given a case of
formula in the hospital, which I sold to a neighbor. I had to fight for
rooming in, finally threatening the hospital staff that if they took my
baby out of my room, I would call the police and charge them with
kidnapping. If you read popular parenting magazines (with the exception
of Mothering), they are peppered with full-page formula ads. During
National Breastfeeding Awareness Week each August, Nestle (who makes
Carnation formula) puts on an advertising blitz. In August 1996, Prime
Time Live aired a segment on the dangers of breast-feeding. They found
3 women whose babies suffered harm because the women had breast-feeding
difficulty (La Leche League is free: http://www.lalecheleague.org ).
During the hour-long show, there were FIVE commercials for Carnation
Good Start formula. To this day I wonder if the women on that show were
real mothers or shills for Nestle/Carnation. The drug companies
definitely conspire to hook consumers as early as possible. An
excellent book on the subject is "Milk, Money and Madness" by Dia
Michels and Naomi Baumslager, ISBN 0-89789-407-3.
