- AS IF THEY DON'T HAVE ENOUGH PROBLEMS DEPARTMENT -
O'Hare Air Traffic Controllers See Ghost Planes
False radar images have been popping up on the screens of O'Hare
International Airport's air traffic controllers, forcing pilots to take
sudden turns unnecessarily, the Chicago Sun-Times reported in its Sunday
editions.
At least a dozen ``ghost planes'' have been reported during the last few
weeks, the newspaper said, citing documents from the Terminal Radar
Approach Control center in Elgin, Ill., and interviews with controllers.
Controllers said that at least a few times, they have ordered pilots to
take sudden turns to avoid what appeared to be planes on their radar,
potentially putting passengers at risk.
"The ghosting is a complete terror for the air traffic controllers,'' said
Charles Bunting, president of the Elgin local of the National Air Traffic
Controllers Association.
False radar images can appear when a crane or construction tower is put
up, said Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Tony Molinaro. Planes
from nearby airports also have appeared much closer to O'Hare than they
actually were in recent weeks, controllers said.
Molinaro said there have been 13 ghost images in the last five weeks,
rather than the eight or nine the FAA would usually expect in that time
period, "meaning we still need to look into them.''
But Mike Egan, vice president of the controllers union at Elgin, accused
the FAA of playing down the problem. "Maybe 130, but not 13,'' Egan said
Friday. "We had a couple of them today, as a matter of fact. ... They know
there's a problem.''
O'Hare controllers have also recently complained about the FAA's plans to
speed air traffic at O'Hare by stacking arriving planes vertically around
O'Hare's air space rather than having them line up single-file.
Bunting said the radar situation raises questions about the safety of the
procedure.

- IT'S ALWAYS A LONE ASSASSIN DEPARTMENT -
Robert F. Kennedy Assassin Demands New Trial
Lawyers for convicted assassin Sirhan Sirhan demanded a new trial in
federal court Thursday, one day After the California Supreme Court
rejected a similar request.
In a petition nearly 300 pages long, Sirhan's attorney said his client was
innocent of the 1968 slaying of Sen. Robert F. Kennedy, who was fatally
Shot moments after declaring victory in the California presidential
primary.
"The prosecution's entire case was based upon fraudulent evidence," said
attorney Lawrence Teeter. "Overwhelming physical evidence of multiple
shooter, extra bullets and extra guns was systematically destroyed by the
police. Witnesses were intimidated. Physical evidence was altered or
substituted."
The petition, filed in U.S. District Court, seeks a new evidentiary
hearing and ultimately a new trial. It contends police substituted another
bullet for the one recovered from Kennedy's neck.
It also claims prosecutors covered up evidence that as many as three
weapons were used and a second gunman was involved in the killing of
Kennedy at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles.
Sirhan, who is serving a life sentence for killing the New York Democrat,
has been denied parole 10 times.
He has repeatedly asserted his innocence, claiming he was in a hypnotic
state at the time of the shooting and that a second gunman might have
actually killed Kennedy. The second gunman theory was rejected in 1975
when a Superior Court judge presided over a re-examination of evidence.
On Wednesday, the state Supreme Court decided on a 6-0 vote not to
re-examine Sirhan's case, saying his 1997 state court petition was
untimely and without merit.

- I DON'T DRINK WATER BECAUSE NESSIE FOOLS AROUND IN IT DEPARTMENT -
Nessie's Could be Relative of the Walrus
A team of Swedish scientists has revealed that the Loch Ness monster may
be a distant relative of the walrus, writes Stephen McGinty. While
theories abound that the fabled inhabitant of Scotland's most famous loch
may be a trapped dinosaur, a giant sturgeon or even an aquatic ghost, new
scientific research has suggested a more mundane solution.
A sonic survey carried out by the Scandinavian Global Underwater Search
Team found that a series of unidentifiable sounds fell into a frequency
matched only by the elephant seal, the walrus or the killer whale.
The sounds, which were described like a pig grunting or a person snoring,
were recorded by highly sensitive hydrophones lowered to a depth of 65ft
in two spots where sightings have been recorded.
The Swedish team, which carried out the research in March on the Loch's
west side, said the sounds were similar to those found in Swedish and
Norwegian lakes also rumored to be populated by water monsters.
Jan Sundeberg, the expedition leader, said the sounds had been analyzed by
both marine laboratories and the Swedish defense intelligence agency,
known as FOA65.
"Most of the noises we picked up in the loch we can identify as eels, pike
or trout, but this noise was a sort of grunting, very like sounds we
recorded in Lake Seljordsvatnet [in Norway], although shorter and sharper."
The analysis revealed that the noises were in a frequency range 747-751Hz
and only the elephant seal, walrus or killer whale make sounds that fall
into that category. "Let's say these sounds were from Nessie - she could
be a relative, a sub-species," said Sundeberg.
The expedition, called Nessie 2000, was organized by the Official Loch
Ness Monster Fan Club, based in Inverness.
Gary Campbell, an accountant who launched the Official Loch Ness Monster
Fan Club, believes the research may prove correct. "I think Nessie is
unlikely to be a dinosaur but I do think something got into Loch Ness
10,000 years ago and has evolved."
Sundeberg's expedition has also included a trip to Ireland, where the
scientists surveyed Sraheens Loch, also rumored to contain a mythical
beast. The team expects to continue studying Loch Ness in October.

- STILL THINK IT'S JUST BATTLE FATIGUE DEPARTMENT -
Brain Scans Of Gulf War Veterans Show Brain Damage
Brain scans of veterans who returned from the Gulf War sick show evidence
of significant brain-cell loss, according to UT Southwestern Medical
Center at Dallas researchers.
In the June issue of Radiology, researchers report that sick Gulf War
veterans when compared with healthy veterans had 20 percent less brain
cells in the brain stem, 12 percent less in the right basal ganglia and 5
percent less in the left basal ganglia. That reduction is similar in
magnitude to results found in patients with brain diseases like
amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and multiple sclerosis, as well as
dementia and other degenerative neurological disorders, although the brain
areas affected are different.
"A common question is whether these levels of brain-cell loss found in
these veterans are clinically important," said Dr. Robert Haley, UT
Southwestern chief of epidemiology and lead author of the study. "You need
to ask yourself if you would be willing to give up 5 percent to 25 percent
of the brain cells in vital parts of your brain that serve as the relay
station for all automatic and subconscious functions of your brain.
"When you sustain such brain-cell losses, you get a host of subtle
malfunctions of all systems of the body."
Using magnetic resonance (MR) spectroscopy - highly specialized brain
scans that measure chemical levels inside the brain - UT Southwestern
researchers found evidence of brain damage that causes a variety of
symptoms in sick veterans, including joint pain, fatigue, dizziness and
mental confusion. MR spectroscopy explores brain chemistry by using radio
waves to measure intracellular concentrations of protons and estimate the
concentrations of common brain chemicals.
Previous magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) on the veterans found no visible
structural changes to the brain. But by using MR spectroscopy,
researchers could look at brain chemical levels, which show biochemical
and physiological changes to the brain.
Dr. James Fleckenstein, professor of radiology, presented initial findings
from the study Nov. 30 at the Radiological Society of North America's
annual meeting. Publication of the findings in the journal Radiology
indicates they have now passed rigorous peer review.
"This brain disorder is quite similar to a variety of other diseases in
which patients may be severely disabled, the conventional MRI scan is
normal and the MR spectroscopy scan uniquely detects brain damage,"
Fleckenstein said.
The tests were conducted on 22 members of a Naval Reserve construction
battalion, commonly known as Seabees, in the southeastern United States.
The tests were also done on 18 healthy veterans from the same battalion.
Investigators performing the tests were blinded to group identities.
The findings were replicated among a small sample of six Gulf War Army
veterans living in Dallas who have been diagnosed with Gulf War Syndrome
2. "Finding the same level of brain cell abnormality in the veterans from
a different branch of service and a different part of the country
increases the likelihood that the findings are widespread among the
nation's veterans," Haley said.
In 1997 Haley and his colleagues defined three Gulf War syndromes in the
Journal of the American Medical Association. Syndrome 1, commonly found in
veterans who wore pesticide-containing flea collars, is characterized by
impaired cognition. Syndrome 2, called confusion-ataxia, the most severe
and debilitating of the syndromes, is found among veterans who said they
were exposed to low-level nerve gas and experienced side effects from
anti-nerve gas, or pyridostigmine (PB), tablets. Syndrome 3,
characterized by central pain, is found in veterans who wore insect
repellent with high concentrations of DEET and experienced side effects
from \
the PB tablets.
The MR spectroscopy study found that veterans with Syndrome 2 had 18
percent less N-acetylaspartate (NAA) in the right basal ganglia and 26
percent less NAA in the brain stem, compared with healthy veterans of the
same age, sex and educational level.
On brain-function tests, sick veterans with the greatest loss of brain
cells performed similarly to victims of the Tokyo subway sarin nerve gas
attack.

Twenty-one Children Hospitalized After Swallowing Magnets
A girl aged nine was in intensive care this week after becoming the latest
victim of a growing craze that has seen 21 children in the UK treated in
hospitals for swallowing magnets.
The youngsters, all of whom are from the Sheffield area, have been
admitted to the city's children's hospital in the past six weeks after
accidents which have all involved industrial strength magnets which are
worn to look like body piercings.
The tiny magnets are being attached to either side of the cheek, nostril,
tongue and lips, but they are so powerful that opposite polarity causes a
fierce repellant action. Doctors are warning parents to be aware of what
they are calling the "life-threatening" craze.
Chantelle Horton, who is expected to be released from intensive care
shortly, accidentally swallowed 12 of the magnets.
She suffered a perforated gut and bowel and all 12 had become lodged
together by the time she was operated on.

Four children and over 300 domestic animals have died mysteriously in
Taoying, Henan China since 1994. Many farmers in the village believed that
"bad" fengshui in the village was the cause of this bad luck.
Upon receiving a phone call from the village, a reporter from the
Yangcheng Evening News traveled to the village to conduct interviews.
Unable to discover the true cause of the deaths, the reporter phoned the
Ruyang Police to request an investigation into these incidents.
The police arrested a suspect, Zhao Qiaowa. Zhao, a local villager, said
she poisoned the animals and local children because she hates some of her
neighbors.

THE DULCE WARS - BY BRANTON
Taken from chapter seven - "Probing Deeper into the Dulce Enigma"
Legends from different parts of the globe all tell of an underworld
inhabited by mystical beings of varied forms. I believe that the reptilian
[race] still resides to this day underground, hidden away in the dark
crevices of the Earth and in the depths of the oceans. The evidence
supporting this proclamation is also available through recent reports and
historical documentation.
In the early 1960's, a subterranean nuclear blast occurred about 30 miles
southwest of Dulce, New Mexico right off U.S. 64. This nuclear blast was
conducted under the umbrella of project Plowshare, and was named
Gassbuggy. It has recently been alleged that this particular subsurface
nuclear blast was used to create a hollowed out chute or chimney for
development of a substation for a super-secret tunnel system attached to
an underground black book project base.
According to the infamous Thomas Castello � a former Dulce base security
technician � this particular under-world city is a highly secret base
operated by humans as well as reptilian aliens and their worker cast, the
commonly encountered Greys. It is here, apparently, that a multitude of
experimentation projects are carried out. Primarily genetic experiments on
kidnaped men, women, and children.
In 1961, Castello was a young sergeant stationed at Nellis Air Force Base
near Las Vegas, Nevada. His job was as a military photographer with a top
secret clearance. He later transferred to West Virginia where he trained
in advanced intelligence photography. He worked inside an undisclosed
underground installation, and due to the nature of his new assignment his
clearance was upgraded to TS-IV.
He remained with the Air Force as a photographer until 1971 at which time
he was offered a job with RAND corporation as a Security Technician, and
so he moved to California where RAND had a major facility and his security
clearance was upgraded to ULTRA-3. The following year he met a woman named
Cathy.
They married and had a son, Eric. In 1977 Thomas was transferred to Santa
Fe, New Mexico where his pay was raised significantly and his security
clearance was again upgraded. . .this time to ULTRA-7. His new job was
as a photo security specialist in the Dulce installation, where his job
specification was to maintain, align and calibrate video monitoring
cameras throughout the underground complex and to escort visitors to their
destinations.
Once arriving in Dulce, Thomas and several other new 'recruits' attended a
mandatory meeting where they were introduced to the BIG LIE, that: "...the
subjects being used for genetic experiments were hopelessly insane and the
research is for medical and humane purposes." Beyond that, all questions
were to be asked on a need to know basis.
The briefing ended with severe threats of punishment for being caught
talking to any of the 'insane' or engaging in conversations with others
not directly involved with one's current task. Venturing outside the
boundaries of ones own work area without reason was also forbidden and,
most of all, discussing the existence of the joint Alien/U.S. government
base to any outsider would generate severe and, if necessary, deadly
repercussions.
Thomas did his job as his superiors demanded. At first his encounters with
actual Grey and reptilian beings in the base were exhilarating, but soon
he became acutely aware that all was not what it appeared to be. Thomas
slowly began to sense that there was an underlying current of tension
existing between some of the personnel and himself. Once in a while he
would walk around the corner, interrupting serious discussions between
coworkers and, as Thomas was a security officer, these talks would die off
into a short murmur and individuals would part company.
One particular part of his job was to go into various areas of the base
and align the security monitoring cameras when it was necessary. This
afforded him the opportunity to venture out and witness things that would
stagger the imagination. Later he was to report seeing laboratories that
investigated the following: Psi studies; Advanced mind control analysis
and application; Human brain memory recognition, acquisition, and
transfer; Matter manipulation; Human/alien embryonic cloning; Rapid human
body replicating by use of energy/matter transfer [complete with an
individual's memory from the computer memory banks] and other scientific
advances.
Once in a while Thomas would see some of the horrifying genetic creations
that were housed in separate sections of the base. These, he knew,
couldn't have had anything to do with mental illness or health research.
Thomas didn't want to look any further. For every time he discovered more
pieces to this underground maze, it became more and more overwhelming to
accept. His curious mind, however, implored him to search for the truth
regardless of his own desire to turn away in horror.
One day, Thomas was approached by another employee who ushered him into a
side hallway. Here he was approached by two other gentlemen that whispered
the most horrifying words, the men, woman AND CHILDREN that were said to
be mentally retarded were, in fact, heavily sedated victims of ABDUCTION.
He warned the men that their words and actions could get them in big
trouble if he were to turn them in. At this, one man told Thomas that they
were all observing and noticed that he too was 'uncomfortable' with what
he was witnessing. They knew that Thomas had a conscience and they knew
they had a friend.
They were right, Thomas didn't turn them into his commanders. Instead, he
made the dangerous decision to quietly speak with one of the caged humans
in an area nicknamed "Nightmare Hall."
Through their drug induced state, he asked their name and their home town.
Thomas discreetly investigated the claim of this 'insane' human during his
weekends out of the facility.
He discovered through his search that the person had been declared missing
in their home-town after vanishing suddenly, leaving behind their
traumatized families, who followed dead ends and trailed flyers. Soon he
discovered that MANY of the hundreds, perhaps thousands of men, women and
children [from ALL AREAS OF THE WORLD] were actually listed as missing or
unexplained disappearances.
