Yes, but it effects male voters as much as women.
Back in 1960, those who had listened to the Kennedy-Nixon debates on radio thought
that Nixon had won the
debates. Those who watched on TV thought that Nixon lost. Men thought so, in
addition to women.
It wasn't anything sexual, but the fact that Kennedy just 'looked better'. Looked
more like 'executive
material'.
And ever since then, politicians have learned that it is more important to have a good
hairdresser and makeup
artist in their employ than a good speech writer. The American public has come to
expect everything to be
packaged in a pretty container, their politicians being no exception.
