- THE MIB ARE BACK AND YOU'RE GONNA BE IN TROUBLE DEPARTMENT -
Men In Black Appear in Wake of Chupacabras Activity
As noted in the last paragraph of an article entitled "A Revealing Study
of the Chupacabras Case" which appeared in yesterday's Estrella del Loa,
Calama UFO Center Researcher Jaime Ferrer managed to detect--after four
days of research in a sector of El Loa province--the presence of strange
individuals who intimidate those who have had alleged experiences with
UFOs or with the allegedly alien creature known as the Chupacabras.
Although the presence of mysterious characters resembles more closely a
story drawn from the U.S. box office hit "Men In Black", the expert claims
that the events described below faithfully coincide with the statements
made by the parties involved. He adds: "If I hadn't investigated the case
myself, I would have found it hard to believe.
Yesterday's newspaper chronicle named some individuals who visited the
ranch of a humble resident of El Loa to recover hair samples left behind
by a strange creature which had attacked his poultry animals.
The farmer stated that around 11:00 a.m. on the day following his
encounter with a creature that can be described as nothing short of
abominable, he saw three strange-looking but very well-dressed men appear
while he spoke to a friend who had also seen the creature. They stood some
30 meters away from a group of acquaintances who were busy sharing a side
of flame-roasted meat.
"We're policemen and we're here to arrest you," said one of the men--a
phrase which shocked the farmer and gave rise to the following exchange:
Farmer: "Why? I didn't do anything wrong."
Person: "Look, you can't discuss what you saw last night with anyone. If
you do you'll only make trouble for yourself."
Farmer: "If you're policemen, could you please show me your badges?" (he
was aware that he had no outstanding matter to settle with the law).
Person: "We'll show them soon enough."
After this brief conversation, the farmer began to observe closely the odd
behavior and equally odd garb of the unknown characters.
"These guys were almost two meters tall. I found them very strange. They
were thin and resembled one another, especially in their bearing and
constitution. They wore sunglasses that concealed their eyes; one of them
had eyes that reminded me of "Spiderman"'s . They always kept their left
hand in their pockets--perhaps that's where they kept their sidearms. They
only withdrew their left hands when they were away from each other to make
hand signals; they surveyed the entire area, and never once did I hear
them call out to one another," the farmer told Ferrer.
He explained that the trio wore a type of glove which left their ring and
smallest fingers exposed, whithe the rest of their fingers occupied a
single space. Their shirt cuffs� he says�covered part
of this "pseudomitten", over which they wore a thin, shiny metal bracelet.
The farmer also describes a "prosthetic" covering the nail of the smallest
finger, and a ring placed at the tip of the ring finger.
"Their Spanish was very strange, sloppy, as if they were drunk. I didn't
know if they were Germans or Swedes because they spoke a language among
themselves which I was unable to understand, but I can tell you it wasn't
English. After they left, we realized that they didn't move their mouths
to speak, which impressed us even more. Pity we didn't realize it at the
time.
[The farmer] further noted that the group leader wore a hat "similar to a
bullfighter's" which barely covered one of his ears, in which he could see
a "V"-shaped cut and a darker shade of color.
He also recalls the following details: a very sharp vocal tone, short
blond hair, broad forehead,high cheekbones, straight nose, thin neck,
small mouth (except for the group leader, who had thick lips and was
wearing a safari-type jacket), a mechanized walk, similar gestures, lined
eyebrows, black ties and tieclips the same color as the stones on their
rings.
One of the men engaged in roasting the side of beef remarked: "They
approached us at one point and looked us up and down, but said nothing at
all. They appeared to walk and spin on the tips of their feet. They gave
the impression of weighing less than a normal person."
The main witness added: "They didn't accept water from us. They threatened
me again, promising to contact us once more. I went into the dining room
and when I came back, the three men had already gone. My friend, who is
more detail-minded than I am, says they boarded an ivory-lead colored
pickup truck which made no noise whatsoever and vanished after a certain
distance.
Jaime Ferrer claims that after his first conversation with the resident,
neither he nor his friend had seen the strangers again. A situation which,
as our readers will see, did not last very long....

- OPEN THE POD BAY DOOR HAL DEPARTMENT -
Mysterious Problem Plagues Space Station
NASA regained some control over the International Space Station on
Thursday, more than a day after all three command computers aboard the
orbiting outpost mysteriously went off line.
Mission managers had worked through a long and largely fruitless night
trying to command a single light fixture in the Destiny laboratory module
to turn on and off. But astronaut Susan Helms, shortly after waking up,
was able to use a laptop computer to establish a link with one of the
command computers.
"Bob, we are connected," Helms told space station flight director Bob
Castle, "and it looks like our data is good."
Castle called that "extraordinarily good news."
No one understood why that worked, but Mission Control had Helms quickly
enter a series of commands that restored the data stream, known as
telemetry, that allows ground controllers to monitor the station. Mission
Control established tenuous control over just one computer and hoped that
would be enough to diagnose the problem.
The computer failures not only left both ground controllers and astronauts
unable to command the station, it broke direct communications between the
station and Mission Control. Since the space shuttle Endeavour was docked
to the station, the astronauts where able to use its systems for
communications.
Although there was no danger to the 10 astronauts aboard the station --
seven from Endeavour and the station's long duration crew of three -- it
was the most serious problem to hit the station since crews began living
there last year, NASA said.
The station was designed to work with just one command computer active and
the other two on standby. That kind of double redundancy is built into the
system to guarantee that failures like this one do not happen.
"The situation is strange to us at this point, and we're trying to sort
that out; yet, it doesn't appear to be causing any huge problems on board
the station," said Milt Heflin, a NASA operations manager.
Automatic functions such as life support and pointing the station's
solar-energy arrays at the sun continued to work because they do not
require commands from the ground or the crew. The computers began to fail
in a bewildering sequence about 40 minutes after the astronauts began
their sleep period on Tuesday.
It caused the station and shuttle crews to cancel a test of the new
Canadian construction robot, Canadarm2, also known as the Big Arm. NASA
was able to turn off the autopilot on the International Space Station and
order it into free drift on Friday, a victory for ground controllers who
have struggled to regain some command over the $95 billion outpost.
The free drift was to allow space shuttle Endeavour, which has been
docked at the space station for a week, to boost the station's orbit more
than two miles. NASA also regained manual control of the station's
antenna tracking system, needed for direct communication with Earth.
Mission Control has been relaying communications through Endeavour.
"So we really don't know what the basic problem was that started all
this?" asked astronaut James Voss, a flight engineer on the space station.
"That's right. We're still working on analyzing all the data," the
communications officer said.

New Book Says Israel Intended 1967 Attack on U.S. Spy Ship
Israel's attack in 1967 on the intelligence ship Liberty, which killed 34
American sailors and wounded 171 others, was deliberate, according to a
new book on the National Security Agency, disputing the longstanding
Israeli claim that the attack was accidental.
The book, "Body of Secrets," by James Bamford, provides a detailed
recounting of the Israeli attack on the American eavesdropping ship, along
with new evidence in an incident that has been debated ever since. Mr.
Bamford wrote an earlier book on the security agency, "The Puzzle Palace,"
published in 1982.
The Liberty, a slow, lightly armed Navy ship that was working with the
security agency to monitor the 1967 Arab-Israeli war, was attacked from
both the air and sea by Israeli forces off the Sinai coast on June 8.
While the Israeli government said the incident was an accident, it did pay
modest reparations to the victims and their families. But Mr. Bamford
writes that the Israeli explanation is a cover story for a deliberate
attack meant to prevent the United States from eavesdropping on its
military activities. And the book provides evidence from crew members of
an American spy plane that overheard the attack.
While Israeli planes and boats were attacking the Liberty, the American
plane, a Navy EC-121 intelligence-gathering aircraft, was far overhead,
and recorded Israeli conversations, Mr. Bamford wrote. And the crew heard
Israeli pilots talking about seeing an American flag.
The Israelis did not have any idea "that witnesses were present high
above," Mr. Bamford writes in "Body of Secrets," which Doubleday is to
publish on Tuesday. The National Security Agency "has hidden the fact the
one of its planes was overhead at the time of the incident, eavesdropping
on what was going on below," he wrote. "The intercepts from that plane,
which answer some of the key questions about the attack, are among
N.S.A.'s deepest secrets."
The aircraft crew did not hear the Israelis mention the Liberty by name,
but did hear enough to piece together the fact that Israeli forces were
attacking a ship flying the American flag.
"Although the attackers never gave a name or hull number, the ship was
identified as flying an American flag," one air crew member recalled in an
interview with Mr. Bamford. "We logically concluded that the ship was the
U.S.S. Liberty."
Surviving crew members of the Liberty also believed that the Israeli
attack was deliberate, according to those interviewed in Mr. Bamford's
book. Before the attack, Israeli planes flew over the Liberty repeatedly,
they noted, and could have clearly seen what it was. During the
attack,they could also see that it was flying an American flag, they told
Mr. Bamford.
Mr. Bamford argues that the Liberty attack came at a time when President
Lyndon B. Johnson was anxious to avoid worsening relations with Israel in
the midst of the Middle East crisis. The Israeli government gave
Washington a classified report to show that the attack was a mistake, and
the Johnson administration then discounted the incident.
"Despite the overwhelming evidence that Israel had attacked the ship and
killed the American servicemen deliberately, the Johnson administration
and Congress covered up the entire incident," Mr. Bamford wrote.
But security agency officials never believed the Israeli excuses, Mr.
Bamford said. "The senior leadership of N.S.A. officials who had unique
access to the secret tapes and other highly classified evidence was
virtually unanimous in their belief that the attack was deliberate," he
wrote.
Walter Deely, who was a senior N.S.A. official at the time of the attack
and who was ordered to conduct a secret study of the Liberty for the
agency, told Mr. Bamford that his review showed "there is no way they
didn't know that the Liberty was American."
John Morrison, an Air Force major general who was deputy chief of the
agency's operations at the time of the attack, told Mr. Bamford that
"nobody believes that explanation."

MARCH 2001, SCOTTISH EXPEDITION JAMIE STERK AND JOYCE MURPHY

It has been over two weeks since I returned from 12 days of exciting
research throughout Scotland. Yes, the Foot and Mouth problem is being
taken quite seriously there. Farmers, especially in the far out rural
areas, seem terrified. We saw and experienced various methods of tire
disinfecting at roadblocks along our northern route. But what about the
mud that gets slung up under the fenders?
Yes, the weather was was quite cold but a couple days after we got there -
not kidding - the country had the sunniest spell in a long time. I told
them it was our gift of Texas sunshine but we were thankful that the rains
ceased and we started to feel much warmer. I felt almost guilty because
we were so comfortable there at this time of year. In my opinion a real
expedition should occur under harsh conditions in a difficult to access
part of the world.
Actually my true guilt was that I didn't stay home baking cookies for my
family but some day maybe my grandkids will understand and appreciate the
stories of my quest for truth.
As our friend and guide for this expedition, Andrew Hennessey, explained
the mystical and romantic land of Scotland has always captured the
wanderer's imagination. Princes, kings, ancient mysteries, bloodlines,
thrones, temples, the Faerie People, and the Secrets of Atlantis would be
enough to keep the average tourist busy there if their interests were so
inclined.
Let's begin this March 2001 Scotland expedition report with some of the

The best most convincing several hours of ufo camcorder footage that I
have ever seen - and it had to take some to beat the Mexico City stuff -
has been filmed by Brian MacPhee in Stirling, Scotland - just north of one
of the worlds busiest ufo hotspots.
Most UFO footage is usually grainy and indistinct, usually by shaky hands
which mess up the focus - and often its some fuzzy indistinct light at
night - but alas for the would be skeptics. Brian is an accomplished
cameraman and filmed it all in broad daylight in good light and on digital
video at its absolute best with various filters.
The incredible footage which includes hours of irrefutable silver discs on
maneuver in the skies over his home IN DAYLIGHT, also shows us the entire
breadth and enigma of the UFO phenomena - for it also includes glowing
orbs, rods of which there have to be the most detailed close up of a rod
on this planet. There quite simply could not be clearer images of these
strange impossible beings called rods - there is also several minutes
footage of a massive glowing organic wriggling plasma ship that has been
also seen and recently forgotten by NASA - and also an incredible tumbling
mechanism with crazy angles seen in very high resolution, plus angel hair
vapor that remains a solid spiral suspended
in the sky even after the vapor trails of passing jets have long dispersed.
This footage was deliberately left out of a recent UFO conference in the
UK and in its place was shown some fuzzy would be aircraft lights at night
to keep the usual suspect debunkers happy. No UK newspaper has so far
touched this sensational footage - Brian hopes to release the three hour
video soon in conjunction with the Enigma TV channel and it will be called
UFOs over Scotland. Despite its seemingly local sounding title - this
stuff clearly rates as some of the best evidence on this planet.
We must make every effort to get this tape past the UK blackout - this is
high resolution digital video in excellent light and weather, filmed by a
steady hand - its importance is far reaching for skeptics, would be
scientists and the rest of us too

FOOTAGE REPORT: INTERVIEW with BRIAN MACPHEE in STIRLING
One of the first priorities Andrew had in mind for us was to see Brian
MacPhee's video footage. Paul led us to the MacPhee home that day about
an hour's drive away in Stirling. We immediately proceeded into Brian's
bedroom where he had everything already set up quite efficiently to show
us what he had on tape. After a short chat, getting to know a little
background, and asking many other questions to which he gave us answers,
shyly at first but definitely warming up we began the intimate soul to
soul communication.
He would like major television airing of his footage which may happen
soon as Enigma TV in Scotland has already aired it. Major media seems to
run several years behind the fact but should pick up the interesting
footage soon. I told Brian that all of us are storing information
expecting the first undeniable landing soon causing the world to suddenly
awaken and beat a path to our doorsteps -
but probably won't find me at home as I will be out there working on the
next quest. In short my advice to Brian was "Please don't give up on this
wonderful connection you obviously have with 'them up there' ! Be
patient as you continue playing your role in this virtual reality on
earth."
Well, my friends, I have seen nearly two hours of this footage .... and it
is all there ... plus the best was filmed only a couple of days before we
visited Brian MacPhee in his Stirling home. Brian did admit that he goes
out to film when he gets a "certain feeling" that something will
definitely show up on film while appearing over his home. Yes, he does
sometimes point the camera at an empty sky with great faith derived from
experience, and voila, there it is on the videotape - But Brian also sees
the objects often before he points and shoots. This is broadcast quality
film that the world cannot deny as genuine.

- THE LITTLEST FOE DEPARTMENT -
Foot and mouth as biological weaponry?
On April 19, the British government's chief scientific adviser, Professor
David King, announced to a relieved world that "The epidemic is now fully
under control." Since the beginning of the foot and mouth epidemic that
has raged across Great Britain, 1,194,000 domestic animals have been
slaughtered in an effort to eradicate the disease. Ghastly pyres of
burning carcasses light the British night sky, yet there are nearly a half
million decomposing carcasses yet to be burned or buried. And another half
million animals await slaughter.
It was only the briefest of reprieves. By April 22 -- three days later,
the British government admitted that foot and mouth that has raged for
months had spread to the nation's wild deer population.
Since it is impossible to vaccinate or destroy every deer in Britain, the
crossover is devastating news. If confirmed, it means that the slaughter
has been unnecessary. It means that foot and mouth will remain in Britain
until the deer develop a natural immunity and the epidemic burns itself
out on its own, a process that could take years or even decades.
Probably no nation on earth is so identified with beef in all its forms
than Great Britain -- even the United States. The epidemic, together with
the discovery of mad cow disease and its ability to infect humans and then
lie dormant for years, has cut to the heart of the British identity. It
means that John Bull, the Beefeater, the home of the steak and kidney pie,
the birthplace of the roast beef sandwich may have to go vegetarian.
The British government has gone to great pains to explain how the epidemic
started and spread. In fact, the British have adopted an "explanation a
minute" format, whereby every time you ask, you get a different answer.
Initially, the government said the disease was imported from the
Continent. But it eventually proved out that the epidemic started in
England and moved to France, and not the other way around.
Then the government explained that they had definitely identified the
source of the epidemic as beginning in the food scraps from a Chinese
restaurant. This explanation has pigs eating infected pig swill from this
restaurant, then giving the disease to the cows. The Chinese restaurant
got the infected meat from an import from the Far East. Except there isn't
a nation in the Far East going through a national emergency foot and mouth
epidemic. Just Britain.
The government and health officials in Britain have as many explanations
for the cause as they do suggestions for a cure, but neither the
explanation nor the cure make any real sense. It all sounds a little
suspicious and fits with a scenario in which an epidemic can be "cured" on
April 19 and "totally out of control" by April 22.
Usually, when none of the official explanations make sense, it's because
they aren't true. How convenient is it that it is the highly symbolic
British beef industry that is under attack by nature? Pretty convenient.
So convenient, in fact, that it is highly suspicious.
The Iraqi regime of Saddam Hussein went to war with the whole world back
in 1991, but when everybody else packed up and went home, two nations
stayed to keep up the pressure on Saddam -- America and Great Britain.
Saddam Hussein's arsenal of chemical and biological weapons is well
documented. The Iraqis admitted to using more than 100,000 chemical
munitions against Iran during the 1980-1988 war. A few of Saddam's
favorites include alflatoxin (a fungal toxin that causes liver cancer)
wheat-cover smut (which destroys grain crops) and foot and mouth disease.
These weapons are hardly traditional, since the effect of their use is
long term, rather than immediate. They are the perfect weapon for
weakening an enemy, or for a sneak attack. Especially if one wanted to
conduct a war against an enemy without his knowing it was happening.
>From Saddam's perspective, Great Britain is an easy target. It is
exceptionally easy to enter the country from another EU member state. An
Iraqi agent with a specimen bottle containing foot and mouth disease and a
cotton swab could easily infect a herd of cattle during a Sunday walk in
the country. Saddam would thereby be enriched on a number of levels.
Should such a scenario prove true, he would have done serious damage to
the British, whom he blames for helping maintain the sanctions against his
country. He would have demonstrated that there is no security against such
an attack anywhere in the world -- sending a sobering message to
Washington.
If Saddam is behind this, that would be his main point.
