Knock Daylights Out Of UN, Says U.S. Gun Dean
To: National Desk
Contact: John Snyder of Citizens Committee for the Right to
Keep and Bear Arms, 202-326-5259 or 703-418-0849

WASHINGTON, June 1 /U.S. Newswire/ -- "It's about time we
knocked the living daylights out of the United Nations," John
Michael Snyder, public affairs director of the Citizens
Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, said here today.

Snyder condemned yesterday's UN General Assembly treaty vote
calling on all nations to adopt firearm registration and other
gun control laws. He said, "the treaty action is a direct and
insulting attack on the individual Second Amendment civil right
of law-abiding American citizens to keep and bear arms."

He added that, "apparently, it wasn't enough for these
globalists to insult our country by throwing us off the UN's
so-called Human Rights Commission in favor of dictatorships such
as Sudan, Libya, China and Cuba. Now these characters are
trying to add insult to injury, knifing our sovereignty in the
process.

"Congress should cut off the U.S. money spigot unless the UN
mends its ways. Why should U.S. taxpayers' dollars go to
support these anti-American shenanigans? No way!"

Snyder, named "dean of gun lobbyists" by national media
outlets, for the last several years has submitted a resolution
on the United Nations to the Gun Rights Policy Conference. Each
submission has been approved by unanimous vote.

The resolution notes that the right to keep and bear arms "is
an object of attack by United Nations personnel and entities,
such as the United Nations Panel of Experts on Small Arms." It
notes further that the panel "recommends that nation states,
including the United States of America, impose on their citizens
laws, regulations and administrative procedures inimical to the
right to keep and bear arms, such as licensing requirements on
all civilian possession of small arms and the specification of
arms permitted for civilian possession."

The resolution provides that, "henceforth it should be the
policy of the United States of America that the government of
the United States of America, including any of its entities or
subdivisions, provide no funds or support of any kind to the
United Nations or to any of its entities or subdivisions unless
and until it and all of its entities and subdivisions cease
support for policies or activities inimical to the traditional,
individual right of law-abiding American citizens to keep and
bear arms, including, but not limited to, those specific
policies enumerated in this resolution."
