He was an intern cop but failed to complete probation (indoctrination?).
The part of the news I keyed in on about experts was tear gas is one of the
LAST things to do. If the Beck guy was in the building, they had him locked
up, just in a different kind of confinement. It was a matter of waiting him out.
They also referred to and perhaps talked to the fellow who wrote the book on
hostage and holed-up suspect negotiations and he confirmed the time issue,
the longer the better.
I thought it was almost funny how the Fox newscaster almost immediately
brought up Wacko. ATF + suspect + tear gas = inferno.
The idea that the firefighters couldn't put out the perp's house seems like BS.
They started to douse the house but then decided watering down the other
houses for hours without even redirecting the water flow to the fire was a
better idea.

This would have been too easy.
One of the experts related how the CS cannister gets hot and when you have
oxygen, material plus heat, you get a fire. Duh. I would love to see the bills
coming in, not only for the burned house but for the damage done to the
ones that were soaked and foamed. I suppose the cops wanted the
heliocopters to help them track the perp but now it has provided for time
immemorial a record of reckless disregard for property. I was waiting for the
car in front of the garage to catch fire and explode but ... then the minivan
didn't either nor did whatever else was in the garage. Guess I've seen too
many movies.
One other point brought out was the fellow may have escaped/slipped away.
I'm not sure when the heliocopter arrived on the scene but there may have
been a time when not all sides were covered. Interesting idea how the Beck
guy could have been at the local watering hole watching his house go up in
flames.
Yes, they could have gotten him outside like they could have gotten Koresh
on a jog, but when you're part of the "brotherhood", well ...
