The Israeli government is less than perfect. I do not agree with many of its policies. I certainly denounce the extreme right that does not want to deal with any Arabs, moderate or otherwise. My preference would be for a massive education in the West Bank and Gaza emphasizing the Seven Laws of Noah, along with the eighth Law of circumcision applying to Ishmael. This would break the educational monopoly of the terrorists, and allow them a form of Islam closer to the truth at least. Instead, the settlers seem to see themselves in an economic role that the Arabs see as an extension of White supremacy and Freemasonry. It is hard to refute them when a vital part of the Jewish mission, the spread of the Noachide Commandments, is buried and the separation between Jew and Gentile becomes over-emphasized. The Arabs should have been shown a tough mercy, a carrot and stick. Whether they are ultimately suited for self-government or not I do not know, but it would have gone a long way.
The Israeli left is also naive. Terrorists are not freedom-fighters. The terrorists in the American Revolution were not followers of Washington, and almost destabilized him. Some might even have been paid operatives of the Crown. Just the same, the Arabic extremists who think they are opposing Satan's forces are in fact pawns of those forces.

The same sources that say there were messages also say the fbi was warned as soon as they realized it wasn�t just some random crazy making a threat.
Seeing as the text of these messages have not been released, we do not know what they knew or didn�t know, which I think needs to be answered before the �how�. If all the message said was �there will be an attack against America soon� there isn't much in of there. If the message said there will be an attack in 2 hours in New York � then questions need to be asked.
As to who benefited most I would say it is right wing elements in this country, and their backers, the oil companies, who have benefited the most. But being able to capitalize on a situation is not the same as authoring it. While I think George Bush and those who wanted to clamp down on constitutional freedom in America benefited, I don�t think they were behind the attacks. I feel much the same towards Israel. These are power players to be sure, and you only get in that position w/ the ability to seize opportunity.
