        I haven't looked at the Gnome [or KDE] code (not that brave!)
        but sometimes when I use a gnome* app, I'll see several
        lines printed to stderr about some missing Gnome functions.
        The errs scream at you ALL IN CAPS :-)

        The strange thing is that this is not consistant; so perhaps 
        some of the better hackers take into consideration thosde of
        us who have older platforms...  --I will poke around and when
        I happen upon one that screams, I'll cut/paste and mail
        you the details.

        PS: Is there a way of closing/exiting a window/xterm/app
            in 3.7?  I've got a "Delete Window" entry in my CTWM
            left mouse-button popup, but an [X] in the upper right
            corner of the app would be a major win.  -g
