| ... except for ...
|
| Gnome maitains a list of tasks to be performed upon session
| initiation. First in the list (priority 10) is starting the window
| manager. At priority 40 is starting the panel, priority 50 is starting
| the applets and other tools, and so on.
|
| When I substitute ctwm for gnome-wm, ctwm is started first, then the
| startup pauses for a full 3 minutes, and then the rest of the tasks
| are started. Apparently, the session manager is waiting for something
| that gnome-wm does and that ctwm does not.
| Any ideas what?
|
| Any ideas how to avoid the 3 minute delay?

Were you able to figure this out.
I start ctwm seperatally (along with other applications, mostly Xterms
which I have a script figure out an position for me) before starting the
gnome system (for the control panels and USB key handling) and the pause
at gnome-wm is very annoying. I tried to change the start order for
this to a larger number but that does not seem to help much.
