I finally got the i82946GZ machine set up again. It reports: [ 232.831] (--) intel(0): Integrated Graphics Chipset: Intel(R) 946GZ [ 232.917] (II) intel(0): SNA initialized with Broadwater (gen4) backend Again, with the "new" (2019?) version of xf86-video-intel, it had the same problems previously described (i.e., SNA is broken on these older-but-not-old-enough chips). With the 2014 version it works great and I can turn off "TearFree" to save the performance hit. -- |/"\ John D.
