I think it is important that everyone has the same source tree and that
darcs-all pull gets the same patches for everyone and my gut feeling is
that breaking this will result in chaos.
In particular, it is crucial to pull all changes before pushing (to spot
conflicts).
Definitely. Also, we're about to switch VCSs, so anything that relies on a
feature unique to darcs isn't an option.
