I found the IP for the cable modem:
If you are using an Ambit cable modem (Dark Grey with 6 green triangular light on front) go to http://192.168.100.1/
the username and password are both: root
You can then look at its status. First up, click on downstream and see if it says the downstream is locked.
Let me know if you have a different type of modem.

Upstream Transmit Power Level: 46.75 dBmV
Downstream Receive Power Level: 2.4 dBmV Downstream SNR: 34.8 dB
