client to work with no luck. But then I know very little about VPNs,
other than "open the Internet Connect application and click on PPTP

Did you try searching Cisco, www.cisco.com, for "VPN Client Linux"? I
got 486 returns. I was hoping to get a simple answer. There are several
Cisco VPN clients and several versions.
