Getting the client isn't the problem; I've got the VPN client. Getting the configuration script isn't the problem; I've got that, too. Not getting the darn thing to actually connect and work like a VPN; that's a problem. Not having access to the VPN server to see what error messages appear in the logs; that's a problem. Not having the time to futz around with something that, IMHO, should be fairly straightforward; that's a problem.
It really shouldn't be that hard. I should just have to type in the hostname (or IP) of the VPN server, a username, and a password. In the odd-ball case, maybe a port number and possibly a domainname. That's it. But, nope, can't get it to work.
And the install base of desktop linux machines at WashU is probably too small for their tech support people to invest the time and energy to figure out how to make it work. They were kind enough to pass on the client and configuration script to me, though.
