Reinstalling firefox after deleting the profile
worked.

The ubuntu-eee I installed uses the
netbook remix interface which I generally
like quite well. It does appear to be a
little flaky though (i.e. sometime a launcher
/ icon is missing -- also panel items are
sometimes duplicate or missing.)

Robert do you use the NBR or the
regular gnome desktop?

P.S. next project before returning the
eeepc is installing Adeona on it (compiling
from source as there is not yet a .deb)
