That is expected (apt does this for you, in a forcible way since
removing may break dependencies that the subsequent install will fix).

My experience in doing things like this (other than you don't have to
do it too often (most people make the repos)) is that if you are
installing a newer package than the one available in the repo, it
shows up as normal.  If you are installing a package that is not
available in the repo, it shows up as an ``Obsolete and Locally
Created Package''.  If a newer one shows up in the repo at some point,
apt does the right thing.
