Does the version reported by about:plugins match what you have installed? Flash on Firefox is fairly straightforward, I believe. Search for multiple copies of libflashplayer.so, maybe you have more than one copy. Or perhaps your plugin has been damaged and the file needs to be replaced. If you aren't (weren't) running the latest, you may want to grab it straight from Adobe anyway.
